Cost-Benefit Analysis of Different Municipal Solid Waste Management Systems: Objectives and Instruments for The Year 2000

The study analyses municipal solid waste management options, namely, re-use, composting, recycling, energy recovery and landfill for each member of the EU. The financial and environmental costs and benefits of 31 waste management options are analysed for each of the 12 Member States. The findings of the study are used by the Directorate-General Environment in shaping the waste management policy of the European Union.
