The Turkish Energy SectorThe first of the two reports prepared for this project is a background paper describing the energy supply industry in Turkey including electricity pricing, natural gas procurement, energy conservation policies and environmental protection legislation and institutions. The second report applies dose-response functions for impacts on human health, crops and forests due to SO2 emissions from two power stations (Yatagan and Soma) in western Turkey. 1992Air Quality, Public HealthEnergyValuation
UK Macroeconomic and Energy IndicatorsThis report provides a summary of UK macroeconomic indicators (unemployment, inflation, interest rates, money supply, government spending, consumer expenditure, balance of payments, imports and exports); forecast of macroeconomic trends over the next year and over medium term (3-5 years) and summary of main macro and microeconomic developments in the UK energy sector (privatisation and creation of separate regional electricity companies and vertical separation of electricity generation, transmission and supply). 1992EnergyValuation
Air Pollution in the UkraineThis study analyses the policies for reducing air pollution in the Ukraine as well as the industrial restructuring in the metallurgical (iron/steel) and power sectors. Regional action plans for reducing NOx, SO2 and particulates in Donetz Oblast, Zaporozhye Oblast, City of Krivoy Rog and City of Mariupol are also reviewed. 1992Air QualityMining/Non-Fuel Minerals, EnergyValuation
The Consumer and the EnvironmentThe report examines the emission of conventional air pollutants (SO2 and NOx) and greenhouse gases (CH4, CO2 and N2O) from each fuel cycle. The project uses the life cycle analysis approach and evaluates the effectiveness of personal actions that consumers can take to reduce these emissions such as energy conservation, recycling and shift in transport mode. 1992Air Quality, Climate ChangeEnergyValuation, Policy Appraisal
