Angus Beattie

Angus joined eftec in September 2024 as a Researcher. He works primarily on projects across non-market valuation and nature markets. He has experience with both appraisal and evaluation methods, economic modelling and analysis skills using econometric analysis and GIS.

The valuation work he has contributed to has focused on valuing environmental goods and services relating to the water environment, including updating the economic evidence for the water environment in the UK; the value of coastal and marine wildlife in England; and the benefits of the UK’s Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction Plan.

His work on nature markets has a focus on biodiversity net gain (BNG) and has modelled the BNG market at a range of scales, from local to national. Other work has included research into UK nature markets and standards, evaluating the BSI’s Nature Investment Standards programme and assessing the current size and future potential for scaling of UK nature markets.

Angus holds an MSc in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from Durham University, where he also studied for a BA in Economics.
